Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner!!!

So people ask me what is PCP and does it really work and how do you feel and a litany of other questions as well.... I have been thinking for the past 30 days on how to answer these types of questions and really explain it simply, almost in a tactile way... So here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpmILPAcRQo This is in my daily internal soundtrack btw... Go to 2:17 and watch that until 3:17...this is how I basically walk into a room now.

Basically, after about 9 and a half years, I am back to the level I should have never ever left. I have the information now to keep making good decisions and healthy choices... Couldn't ask for anything more. I will be looking forward to new challenges as well. Big thank you to Patrick, Teo & Sarah... It's a great program and you guys are top-notch, I feel like the $500 fee for this was a steal. I want to shout-out my boys Corey & Carter, good effort fellas, total teamwork there...The HK contingent, great chat room on bloomberg and some new good mates as well. The Ex-PCPer's Bumstead, Benson, Arnie, Rob S, Hidaka, Glazer, Benn C and especially Derek 'Big Red' Foster for telling me to STFU and just do it. You guys all pumped me up in size at one point or another!

Here are some stats...

                         BEFORE:                              AFTER:
Weight:              107k                                      91k
BMI                    32                                         27
Waist                   40"                                       35"
Body Fat             25%                                      18%

Muscle Mass        38%                                      42.5%

Great effort from everyone, see you at the salad bar!

Back from the brink...

Today was my first day back to work after two days stuck in bed with the flu, though unconfirmed because I had the leave the hospital waiting room after waiting an hour, but sleeping 45 hours in 3 days, I'm pretty sure it was the flu.... I still wasn't feeling up to doing the workouts today but I did do some push-ups and 30 minutes of skips. Felt a little rusty but I guess that makes sense as I hadn't really moved a muscle all week. While I was sick I slept for the majority of the days and really only woke up to call the office and to sort out my meals which were pretty strict to the diet. I also managed to go below my 90k target, but I don't think that counts. The good thing is, even though this last week has been brutal, I feel like I have it all together. Looking forward to tomorrow and to keeping this going long after it ends! Very happy with the results and with everything that I've learned... Will write a big one on Saturday and get my last photos up!

Not feeling well

Yesterday and today haven't been feeling that well.. Hoping I can kick it by tomorrow and get back on these workouts.

April 7, 2012 4:32 PM HKT

yoyo

work outs & 30mins of skips done yday n today. Diet on point, getting fired up for the home stretch.

April 5, 2012 8:36 PM HKT

B-Balled tonight...

Played basketball for 2 hours tonight, unfortunately my game was inconsistent and my shot was flat and I had no handle... Pretty depressing actually, but whatever... Did some pull ups and pushups and some ab work but gave the other exercises a rest. Weight wise I am fluctuating between 91-92 kilos which is about 15-16kilos or 33-35lbs, I really want to loose 4 more by the end of this... Diet on point and back on the workout routine in full tomorrow... Hope everyone is killing it!

April 4, 2012 9:51 PM HKT

Futsal

Today is essentially my Saturday in workout terms, biked 20 minutes and played 2 hours straight of futsal. Feel a little beat but the one thing I did notice is that I was humming around the pitch tonight and am almost where I want to be as far as being in shape is concerned. I think it will take me another month or two of solid cardio(jump-roping everyday) basketball, futsal, muay thai and P90X(which I am looking forward to,) to get where I want to be. The other thing I noticed was that I did not need any water the entire game. I thought that was a bit shocking actually.

April 3, 2012 6:41 PM HKT

WINDY

Def windy outside. Simple post tonight... Workout done, replaced kung fu fkkrs with 8 min abs... and 25 mins of skips..

April 2, 2012 7:55 PM HKT

2 L 2 Q

Did everything on the workout except all of the planks, hurts my shoulder a bit, did 2 minutes and I had to call it. So instead of doing 21 minutes jump-roping I did 31.  The one thing I have grown to love through this whole program is my time alone doing jumps. It helps me day-dream, strategize, evade & conquer, so for me the longer the better... Diet spot-on as well.. All is good in the life of the Monster... New pic up as well...

MC Hammer reference in the title...Enjoy:

Well....

The last couple weeks have been pretty hard actually. I have lost all motivation for doing this and have been struggling through all the workouts. If I could get the workouts, skips included, under an hour I would be in a much happier place. I have been sticking to the diets, occasionally going off piste for a steak or a glass of wine. For the most part however, I have been keeping it together despite the unbelievable lack of motivation. I feel burnt out to be honest. I think it all set in when I pulled a muscle in my arm, I have been struggling to get the hunger back ever since. I am trying to pysche myself up for the last 2 weeks here so I finish off with a bang. So I am going to go back and log on every night to write whether I have finished the workout and skips or not...

Tonight workout & skips have been done.

March 26, 2012 10:39 PM HKT

Feeling good...

Good workout tonight; but, I am definitely not mature enough to do 6 sets to failure, just not happening, and I can't trick myself either, I am just too smart for 'there is no other set coming' and poof: here's a set. So I just did 5 sets of 35 and I found the failure/agony in that.  Food is good, have mostly been pretty much on point when it comes to the diet and really only find myself weighing lunch and dinner, the fruit I can pretty much guess at this point.  I am definitely feeling good though, mentally & physically. Played basketball on Sunday as well and my body ached at first and then once guys started talking a little bit of sh1t, then it was on like Voltron(almost.) Anyway, game is definitely coming back which is great, a lot of bounce in my step as well..

yoyoyoyo

Hey Guys, arm feeling better, a little tight on certain movements but other than that is all good... Tried to stay close to the diet the whole week and only did a few workouts, and a few days of skips, definitely feeling like when is this over... But I really want to put in a serious effort for the remainder of the program. I am also thinking about what I can do next after PCP, I think maybe doing P90x would be fun so I am going to open that box up form a few years ago and have a look. Pic up tomorrow.

March 21, 2012 4:14 AM HKT

Hey

Worked-out yday, instead of skips did a 20 min run. Still feeling pain in my tri, pulled something there. Going easy on the Tricep excersizes I have on tap today, just did 20 mins of skips and will prolly only do the pull ups and the abs when I get home tonight...

March 14, 2012 9:36 PM HKT

Today I weigh 94 kilos

Just biked to play Futsal for an hour & biked back, no skips and no workout...Will move todays workout to tomorrow and I am feeling really good. I have 5 more kilos to go to get down under 90(which would put me under 200lbs,) which is my goal for the PCP program, though my ultimate goal is to loose 20 total, which is 7 more kilos... I know I can loose 20kg but it just may be tough in the 3 month time frame. It will be interesting to see if I can swing it.

March 13, 2012 7:47 PM HKT

Day...

Got the workout done and the skips(which were torture today due to a bit of a headache all day), but was definitely looking forward to getting them both done and out of the way so I could chill for an hour before bed.  Didn't feel like having chicken for my lunch protein, so had egg whites instead, then I realized after my workout snack I have had like 10 egg whites today...WHICH IS AWESOME! lol... I love having egg whites for some reason. That an avocados are like my favorite thing to eat. For my evening snack every night now, I take a small avocado, an egg white, a sliced n diced tomato, sometimes sliced carrots or onions or spinach, mash it all together, crush some black pepper and eat it up... It looks like sh1t, but it tastes pretty good.

March 12, 2012 8:27 PM HKT

Hey

Who would've thought I would ever look forward to working out and jumping rope... I will say that is not the case everyday, that is for sure, but most days I look forward to it... That being said, planks, pull-ups, bicycles are my absolute worst enemies... The Kung-fus I cant even figure out how to do, so I usually replace them with that exercise that you lay on your hands and kick you feet up... Anyway, workout is done and new pic is up.

March 10, 2012 8:43 PM HKT

Ok,ok,ok...My boy Usher said it best:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tFq4NiRfaQ

My boy's bday party today..So I had: 4 pieces of Dominos pizza(Japanese style slices) and 2 glasses of wine(1 white Caymus, 1 red Dominus---small glasses as well)...I replaced that with what my lunch was supposed to be but the rest of the diet was spot on along with the workouts. Ok, I also had a chocolate cupcake with a giant strawberry on top and it was FKKN ridiculous!! lol! And its out there... Boom! Am I proud of that? The answer is: ABSOLUTELY! I would normally have had double all of that including 5 or 6 beers and not even think about it, then have another crazy large dinner or maybe even skip one altogether with no working out either... So yeah, I feel pretty good about it... Jump ropes today were great, I tripped only a handful of times for the 16 minutes straight, and I was humming along. Also, I usually allow one day during the week where I move the workouts to sat instead due to work, so got a decent workout in as I replaced the 50lb rubber band with the 100lbs and man, did that burn... New pic up tomorrow.

March 9, 2012 8:22 PM HKT

"...I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her..."

Workout n skips done n dusted yday and today... feeling pretty beat tho... Think I pushed the bike's a bit to far the other day, my thighs are still pretty sore... I will admit I milked the planks tonight, 60 seconds I can do 2 times.. The third n fourth time I contemplated giving all my shit away and living as a monk. I think almost cried as well, may have to throw Notting Hill in to feel good about the world again.

Hey There Stranger

Had a tough week last week, was super busy with clients in town, and work was a bit hectic as well, and also had a quick trip over to Singapore for Friday and Saturday night. 3 days last week I was off the diet and had to drink as well. 2 of those days where I had to drink were pretty big nights, and yes they were tons of fun. 2 also equals the amount of workouts I didn't do as well, not including the one day I only did skips. Anyway, I knew it was going to be a tough week and knew that an indulgence would be coming up so, I caned it. Basically for the indulgence I drank a few beers had some chicken wings(half the normal amount I would normally inhale) and also had a chicken quesadilla(spell check that.)  My body felt a bit sluggish following my 3 day indulgence to say the least and my energy level was depleted as well... But I am back on form like I never went off. However, I am finding the diet a little bit more time consuming trying to sort everything out, actually I am at peak capacity on the cooking front. For lunch now I am just eating at the salad bar everyday, topping a salad with protein(chicken or tuna fish) and carbs(ziti or cus-cus(also spell check that)) and no dressing bc honestly the carbs and the protein sort it out fine... Posted the Week 8 pic and think that I had very little improvement vs week 7 bc I had such an irregular week. Hopefully week 9 is much better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O53yqG0KgmQ

Pumpin em out to my boy LL... Went old school for this one!!!

Feeling great, work out & skips went well... Really working on the abs now, I mean there is a little notion in the back of my head that says keep going and pushing the ab workouts bc I am going for a 6 pack... I don't even know what to do with a 6 pack... lol... Fkk it, will cross that bridge when I get there...

February 25, 2012 8:37 PM HKT

Day ?

Got the workout in early after I woke up this morning. Then went and hit Y3000 worth of ball at the batting cages am pretty beat.

February 23, 2012 10:08 PM HKT

Feeling Groovy

I feel great. Work is great. I have a better attitude towards pretty much everything, I am less combative and defensive and more rational...Noticeable differences on the inside that permeate through the outside as well... All is good in the land of the Monster... Today for breakfast I forgot my egg at home, so I had a bit of steamed chicken that I had in the fridge at work. I felt like that was sufficient. As far as weighing things goes, I am getting the grams pretty close by eyeballing it. I have been testing myself at the salad bar. I am trying to be a bit more cognizant of portions and actual weights of vegetables.

The workouts have been good as well... I did assisted pull-ups yesterday because I slightly pulled a muscle underneath my right arm on the side of my chest... It wasn't bad at all but have been taking the pull-ups a little easier...I have been putting serious attention on the ab workouts as well as the push-ups. Today was a good workout with a good round of skips as well...

February 22, 2012 10:40 PM HKT

Confession

Had a sr guy in form Asia in town, so I broke the diet yday and didn't do the skips but I did the workouts, thought I would've had enough time for skips as well but didn't. Today everything back to normal and I trimmed about 100g of carbs out bc of my diet's infidelity yday.  All going well.

February 20, 2012 8:33 PM HKT

Doing my thang

Got home from work, went right into the workout, really pushed the chest dips and felt the burn through the pushups, ovations and into the flys, maxed out all the reps and really worked on form with the V-sits and those ab-twist things, laid in a pile of mush on the mat of my little home gym moaning in the fetal position...good times! My legs were burning too from that pistol sit thing...With that creep walk I picture myself walking through the jungles of nam with a fake gun in my hand and don't even think of the burn...I wonder what the security guards in my parking lot think when they are watching me on the CCTV creeping and pretending I am holding a M16?

February 19, 2012 9:01 PM HKT

Just checking in

Feel like last week was my toughest week yet. I went from 100.1 to 98.5 kilos, not a huge win, I definitely do not think I pushed it to the max everyday, feel a little bit guilty about that. Didn't do the workout or the skips on V-day and only did half the workout and the skips the day after. The good thing I guess is that I have been pretty strict on the diet, occasionally I will have a bite of whatever I am cooking or half a carrot if I am really hungry but that's about it really. Anyway, just want to make a commitment that I will really try to push it this week and make sure I get the most out of my free time Mon ~ Fri.

Also, another little gem I learned... It takes exactly 14minutes to hard boil an egg... After that place directly in cold water for 15minutes.. After that de-shell them under running water, then dry them with paper towel, place in a tupperware container and then into the fridge.... BOOM!!!!!! No more eating shells at work!

February 17, 2012 8:26 PM HKT

Friday...

Workout done and dusted, felt good. Gonna take a shower and hit the sheets. Then up early and working on that 6 minute mile a bit more and see what happens...

February 16, 2012 8:15 PM HKT

Larry Bird

Day #33...Feeling much better than yesterday. Feel like I am back in the groove. Workout was good, worked-out with a bit of a hunger today, something I was lacking yesterday. Bring on Friday and the weekend!

February 15, 2012 7:39 PM HKT

Wet Hen

Wasn't able to do the workouts or skips yesterday but stayed pretty PCP compliant on the meals, just switched up lunch and dinner. Today felt great most of the day, had a productive day at work but got home and have been fighting through the workouts for 2.5hrs, struggling through everything from the jumpropes, pull-ups to the sit-ups...I did the minimum of everything and got side-tracked the whole way through, some reps I didn't even complete... To be honest I feel really fkkn p1ssed and I have no idea why!!! GRRR, kinda want to fight and break sh1t! And now I have to go prepare tomorrows breakfast, lunch and dinner; and that's the last fkkn thing I want to do. Tomorrows' Seth is going to be really p1ssed at todays' Seth because he is going to be eating raw beets out of a can for breakfast and an entire raw radish for lunch... yum!

February 13, 2012 7:15 PM HKT

Floating like a Butterfly, Stinging like a Bee

Felt good today, but my workout was average really... Didn't do anything extra like, was kind of beat...But the jump-roping was on point. Today kicked out 1400 all boxer shuffles. We were talking about boxer shuffles at work today on chat and I was giving them a go every once in a while, throwing them in every 100 skips or so and usually tripping on the end and then just giving up and going back to side-to-sides... Today though, I just decided to do everyone 'Left: tap-tap...switch...Right: tap-tap...switch ... ' At first they weren't going well at all, but after the first 500 or so it started to click and then I kept moving around the parking garage. Felt so good I did and extra 100 at the end...

February 12, 2012 6:03 PM HKT

Sunday Funday

Woke up this am and went for another 20 minute run, this time I really tried to push that first mile so I could see if I could cut some time off. I cut close to a minute off the time and did the mile in 8:34 seconds, but yesterday I was only jogging and the course around the summer palace is just way too hilly to get an accurate read, so the results are a bit debatable. Anyway, next weekend I am going to run around Jingu, which is much more even, and try to figure out how far I need to go to break a 6min mile... Got the workouts done midday and even did 6 pull-ups in a row...YAY!!!

The set-back today was steaming... :-(  The cauliflower went fine.. The summer squash and the zucchini were way too soggy but still eatable... But the FKKN lotus root, well that basically ruined my day and my pan and my steamer tray... Basically, I was watching the video of the Bruins winning the Stanley Cup last year (again) and got really into it and I smelled something burning and a fkkn cloud forming in my living room. I thought, "HOLY SH!T, the building's on fire!!!" But alas, it was just the FKKN lotus root being steamed with no water; the pan and steamer looked like they were both carbonized in coal...It was the most god awful smell as well...You would need a hammer and chisel to get this shit off the pan...Currently, both are on my balcony. Anyway, I turned the stove off and opened all the windows, but I was doing so well in the kitchen that this is a minor setback for me... I mean I have come such a long way from not eating with the fork I moved the raw chicken with, or needing a box of band-aids in the kitchen at all times because every time the knife comes out I self-mutilate, or cooking rice in a rice cooker and forgetting about it for 2 days(which I must remember to do after I write this,) or under boiling eggs so that I end up wearing an embryo at work, or buying fresh veggies and then they die in my fridge because I put them in a drawer I have never used and it turns out its a drawer in your fridge to freeze sh!t...or buying too much bread and not putting it in a paper bag so it gets moldy, or cutting onions without having gum in your mouth, or grading ginger and holding it in your hand so you shred skin as well...etc... Anyway, I will definitely rebound, but it was just a bonehead move and I will need to lift another pan.

Also, worth noting I got the self-counting jump-rope, I mean it's great that it counts because I hate counting, but the cable is rubbery and stretches(it's like a giant elastic band) and that p1sses me off bc I have been using weighted handles with a solid cable the whole time and it is legit...With this new one, if I go to fast, which I have been doing, the rope warps out and doesn't respond like it should... So I have to slow it down and I hate it... Absolutely hate it, complete waste of time and money... Y2.5k and its yours, used once.

INDULGED

Saved 'Indulgence Day' day until Friday as it was bonus day. So needless to say ordered a bottle of Cask cab sav at The Oak Door, one of my favorite Rubicon wines and one that I highly suggest to anyone looking for new Cali red. Anyway had a few glasses & a couple stogies with a couple buddies along with 2 salads and a BLT w/an egg on ciabatta bread. Then had a vodka soda at another bar and called it a night. Woke up this am went for a leisurely 19min 2 mile jog and realized on that run that I would like to get back down to under a 6min mile, something I haven't done since I was 17, so will add that to the list of things the Dragon will see me accomplish. I have also made amends with a former arch nemesis of mine, that being the push-up. I look forward to doing them now, I highly suggest people get the "The Perfect Push-Up" bars:
 http://www.perfectonline.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=PerfectFitness/prodbrws.html?lvl1=Perfect.PUSHUP

Also, I would like to wish my Dad a very Happy 72nd Birthday today!

Year of the Dragon - Finishing Week 4

"Come not between a Dragon and his wrath."
                                                   ~ Shakespeare, King Lear

Really worked out hard today. Friends and relatives who came across the blog saw last week's pic vs my 1st pic or 2nd and they were really pumping me up... Today I wanted to push myself to complete failure, and I did. Put in extra reps/sets in everything from the standing ovations to the one-arm curls to the pull-ups...Especially the pull-ups! Today, I just wasn't taking I can't do it for an answer... I set out to do 4 sets of 6, starting out did 4 in a row then after that it was all in sets of 2's, but I did all 24. Then I did an extra one where I pulled myself up & held my chin up for 3 seconds before going down to full arm extension, wow did that burn, but I was pumped... Planks today had me shaking, but wasn't watching the clock as much this time around, held each one a little more than 30 seconds. For the jump ropes instead of counting, I just put 12 on the clock and stopped it when I needed a rest, was going at a decent pace as well, not too fast but at about 130 a minute... Cooked dinner and made lunch for tomorrow, same as today 'Seth-O Chop Suey.' (check it out below)

The other thing I want to talk about is Indulgence Day... Sounded great about a month ago, but truth is I really don't want a doughnut, cinnamon roll or anything like that really.. I just don't know whats in it and I feel great without it. I know it will make me feel like shit, hell I knew that over a month ago, I just do not want to screw with what I am doing. This diet is really hard work and I am doing it all myself, which is one of the things I hoped to get out of this, basically learning how to cook nutritious things. Even now I find it very rewarding, but man is it time consuming!!! So really I just don't want to mess with it...So I think tomorrow for indulgence day I may go out and have a few drinks and then back on it for Sat!

:-(

didn't do the leap-frogs or the do the jump ropes... going to make it up on Sat...Did everything else though including a few pull-ups. Knee is still a little sore and I really didn't want to push it. Will get back at it tomorrow... Also, whats up with those V-sits? I can't seem to do one right at all...

February 6, 2012 7:06 PM HKT

Superbowl just not so super

Had the day off for the SuperBowl, the only good thing about it was being able to do my workout in the middle of the day. I initially hurt my left knee two weeks ago at basketball, the back outside of it, thought it was a bone bruise or a pulled muscle at first and has only really been annoying. Then yesterday I played futsal for a couple hours and I tried to get all tricky and I re-injured the leg, now I am thinking it may be something more sever because it hurts to bend my leg now and it also hurts to squat down, a lot more pain now. I also could only do about 100 skips per minute today. It's pretty sore and have been RICEing it all day... I am going to get it checked out after work tomorrow, hoping it has nothing to do with ligaments... Fingers crossed its just me getting old...

February 5, 2012 11:09 PM HKT

YO SOY FIESTA!

Didn't do jump ropes today, rode my bike 20 mins down to Shiba-koen and played 2 hours of futsal and then rode back... Did the work outs and also got my new pull-up bar. Did 4 pretty quick then nearly passed out...OMFG!! Waited 10 mins tried to do some more, hit a wall, so I lowered the bar down and did 5x5 incline pull-ups...By April I want to be able to do 10 crisp, solid, all the way down pull-ups.

Made some cool Veggies today...

4 different kinds of mushrooms, including portabella...sliced up(not chopped), 2 cloves of large garlic shredded, 2 medium sized onions, bit of worcestershire sauce...all sauteed up... Ridiculous!

After that I tried making Morning Glory, that thai spinach dish that can knock your noodle off sometimes... chopped up some chili peppers, some garlic(actually a lot of garlic,) and a lil bit of spicy sesame oil... Smelled pretty good but didn't try it...

February 4, 2012 5:49 PM HKT

Ni-ju-itchi

Woke up after about 12.5 hours of sleep, walked to Suji's, went through ESPN had a 2 egg white mexican omelet, with 3 tortillas, toast on the side(no butter) and a greek salad(no dressing nor feta cheese.) Walked to Nissen bought a sh1t load of veggies. Pumped out 1000 jump-ropes. Chilled, watched a movie, had my fruit rations. Bagel and avocado with chicken and tomato for lunch, and after an apple. Then did the workout I skipped from yesterday with an extra set of push-ups and very limited times in between sets. Knocked out the workout part in under 20 mins... Then went down to the parking garage again to pump out another 1000 skips in about 7minutes... I am averaging about 150 skips per minute which I think is good. I am throwing in side-to-sides, cross-overs and double skips to mix up the monotony. Am feeling alright, very pumped for the super-bowl...  Pull-up bar comes tomorrow, CANT WAIT!!!

February 3, 2012 8:14 PM HKT

Executive Decision

Its 9pm, worked from 6:20 to 7pm. Haven't deviated from the diet all week.. I am going to move todays workout until tomorrow, maybe do a thousand skips in the am and a thousand in the pm, with the workout in the AM... I am just really beat, everyone is getting sick and I am just not feeling that hot... I am going to pop in a movie have my fruit snack and pass out...

February 2, 2012 8:51 PM HKT

You down with PCP, yeah you know me...

Pretty cool reading about all the body changes going on and realizing that my body is going through most of the stuff. Even in just 3 weeks I am noticing my increased flexibility, better outlook, better sleeping patterns, going to the bathroom more regularly and pants being looser...  I am not even really hungry either... Every once in a while I am dying to have a twix or a slice of pizza but whatever is all good... I can go without.

I will say I am sick of cooking... Basically all because you have to clean up!!! I mean I keep my place in pretty good shape from Sunday to Sunday when my cleaning lady comes...But now my kitchen looks like a disaster. The other thing is I just have no free time.. I am either cooking, working out, working, going to or from work sleeping or showering... I just don't have time to do anything else. Which is good in a way bc I am always moving now and I am not going out either.

Workout done today, didn't do the skips bc I played basketball for 2 hours with Corey G... but my shot was off and I had a pain in my left leg upper left calf. I just couldn't cut or drive to the rim... Whole game was off actually... Whatever, was good to just run up and down the court I guess... Hopefully my game comes back.. I probably got dunked on at least a dozen times tonight.

Day 18

Workout finished... Counting skips is just awful and I will keep bitching about it until I get a self counting jumprope... I have realized thats the reason I stop most of the time bc I just loose count and have to go back and retrace what I have already done.

Cooked bamboo shoots for lunch tomorrow.?.?.?.? yeah I don't know how they are going to taste either. Chicken marinated in tangerine juice with my favorite spice ever, CUMIN! Should be good!

Day 17

Went through the workout pretty quickly, felt good but can't wait to get my new pull up bar from the states. Should be in by the end of the week. Pumped out 900 skips bc I am still doing incline pull-ups off of my dining table.. So far so good. Starting to notice the weight loss and usually this is where I would plateau but I'm using it as motivation to push it a little bit harder, hence the 900 skips intead of the 850 and an extra rep in each set tonight... Feels good..

Truckin...

Channeling my inner Julia Childs here, chicken wings galore marinating in a dry rub of crushed pepper, rosemary & cumin. This morning I made healthy home fries: chopped up a few potatoes, onions, garlic, mushrooms, cayenne pepper, lil bit of olive oil, lil spicy but not bad. Had Hoke(I don't know what its called in English) baked fish for lunch(no soy sauce today,) two of them, lil fishy but plugging through. Also broiled some salmon and tuna fillets for lunch this week...Grrrr!

Workout done, skips done in 4 sets of 200, with 20 second breaks in between...Still don't have a solution to my pull-up bar though...

End of Week Ni-Ban..

Hanging in there, really tried to push it this week but got pretty burnt out. Played an hour of Futsal on Wednesday and did the workouts w/the skips; felt rough but did it. On Thursday, I played basketball for nearly 2 hours and I was absolutely spent and I couldn't do the workout or the skips, so I switched it to the jump-rope day because of all the cardio. Anyway, still felt like a fail...After that, the workouts have been a bit of a struggle, but am getting through them. I think one thing that will help is just posting that I did the workout that day. That way it will help me going forward so I will do that from now on. So today, the workout is completed, I did 'Day 12's' workout(bball day) and 800 skips instead of 700.

I have tried a couple times to go out but it just gets stressful having to go through the high-school peer pressure again when the fact is I would love nothing more to grab a few beers or rip into a pizza, curry, buffalo wings or some karage with my friends. Funny enough, I think most of the peer-pressure is put on by me, wanting to join in but knowing I can't. Today I ate out twice and I tried to stick to the diet as best as possible and with breakfast I did that with a 2 egg & vegetable omelet, a greek salad(dipping my fork in dressing,) and toast with no butter... For lunch I did as well, making grilled fish(a bit of lemon & soy sauce) with rice and ate a tomato. For dinner I cheated a little(as I am sure the salt content is high), as I had korean BBQ, with the best intentions, though I will admit to crushing two rice bowls of babimbap for carbs, kimchee, a bunch of meat and bit of grilled vegetables with a lot of tea on the side. Anyway, I definitely thought a lot more about the food, but at the same time I knew I was veering off the diet.

Looking forward to cooking all day tomorrow as I have thought up some new ideas.

Day 10

Diet going well, bringing a tupperware container and my scale everyday to weigh bananas and apples. All good, I can do this. When I get home I am exhausted and I continue to leave things until the last minute but I am getting every workout in everyday and I am cool with it. I usually dog the last couple push-ups and the incline pull-ups, which are just awkward, but everything else is spot on. Tonight is the first time I have to eat something I didn't prepare so I am going to go with a steak, decent sized, with steamed vegetables and bread. Boom! should be good.

Have Futsal tomorrow and B-ball on Thurs... Will do the workouts before each and see how that goes. Down about 3kilos so far as well.

GO PATS!!!!

Hit the farmers market yesterday to load up on Veggies and Fruits... Today went to Nissen and loaded up on meats, pasta and breads. The funny thing is I think I am going to have to do this every other day because I am already running out of food. Ate a summer squash a zucchini, 2 small eggplants, 1 bell pepper, 2 small potatoes, a chili pepper, 1 clove of garlic, 1 carrot, bowl of rice, a few apples, a couple oranges, couple egg whites, some steak and some tuna steak and a head of romaine lettuce raw, felt like I was Schmiegel from Lord of the Rings, just ripping in to sh1t raw. lol... Anyway, the cooking part will get better I am sure.. I downloaded some cooking app on my iphone, that I will check out and hopefully that will give me some ideas... Big Game Tomorrow!!!

Day 6

Anyway, did pretty well with the 1/2 portions this week...Somtimes like tonight(sushi) and yday 2 salads, I ate closer to full portions than half. I rationalized that by skipping the "Pig Knuckle" at Ex Bar and the 10 Bitburger Beers that go with it, or Maccers or ramen noodles or beer or anything else that wasn't healthy for that matter.... I really tried to put a lot of thought into what I ate, wrote it all down and cut out the filler snacks as well as any sugary type of beverage. I fought off most of the urges and the ones I couldn't I just absolutely murdered and apple or an orange, or even 1/2 of an oatmeal and honey bar. I have been pretty energetic everyday as well, and am sleeping better than I can even remember. So far so good...

Cinco de PCP...Andele!!!

Things seem to be going well...Down -2.2k, lil sore but workouts today were all good, much better than yesterday. Figures the time I work out before futsal theres only enough for 5v5 for 1 hour, completely drained at the end. Then had a buddy in town last night, hung out until 1/1:30am, but I am not drinking so I felt like a muppet but am committed to this and will see it through. Today, meal-wise I actually ate a lot: BREAKFAST-Banana, 1/2 egg sandwich, 1/2 blt sandwich...SNACK: Tangerine....LUNCH: 3/4 SALAD with grilled chicken & no dressing...SNACK: 1/2 oatmeal & honey bar(ok maybe 2/3's)...DINNER: 75% Nicoise Salad...I am also writing down everything I eat on a daily basis so I can go back and check in 3 months if I still think the stuff I am eating know, which I think is healthy, actually is...

Actually forgot how much I like Jump-roping... Doing them in sets of 100, only bc my calves ball up and start burning and I have to stop for a bit. I am thinking of getting a self-counting rope though bc I really would like to just zone, rock the Top Gun soundtrack and pump em out.

Day 4

Wow...Todays workout was a lot harder for some reason. Lunges were pretty sh1t, push-ups were complete sh1t, sit-ups were so-so and the jump roping which I'm pretty good at also hovering around sh1t. Maybe bc I'm not feeling to well or that I was in the office at quarter of 6 today I dunno, but just didn't have that "Genk" that usually wills me through the 'Sh1t' so to speak... Really felt like I was forcing myself to do the workout today instead of being eager to chew thru it.. Anyway, gonna go grab half a bento and go to my futsal game...

January 16, 2012 5:25 PM HKT

Day 2

Unbelievably jet-lagged but just got my Day 2 workout done and am going to eat the other half of the bento from last night and crash. BOOM!

Bring on the Dragon

Figure the Year of the Dragon is good a time as any to step up and get healthy. Really looking forward to these 90 days to cut weight the right way and learn how to eat better. The last 5 or 6 years I have become lazy in working out and in my eating habits and the sporadic 1-2 month working out periods sprinkled in between haven't been much more than band-aids on the real issues. Those being I don't have a clue what nutrition really is and that I don't have a consistent workout schedule that I am dedicated to.  I am looking forward to changing these over the next 3 months and incorporating those new habits in my lifestyle after that.
