final workout

Completing the final workout was bittersweet, it's amazing how easy all the exercises were (and how fast!!).... I have gotten used to 2-3 exercises with more than 3 sets per group and going back down to one was a breeze. Looking forward to my maintenance and continuing the positivity in the future. Thanks PCP!!

Completion

Wow, what a 3 months... I have never given myself any target or goal that I have stuck with like the PCP. I feel great about my progress and body. My main goal was to re-prioritize food and what I was eating, mission accomplished. I will forever incorporate veggies into breakfast and be snacking on fruit during the day and evening snacks. Although I never was able to do an unassisted pull-up, I'm thrilled to have an arsenal of band exercises to do.

Pics to come soon, haven't had time this weekend... had some friends visiting from the states and celebrated their visit and the end of my PCP!!

holy super sets

OMG feel the burn.... super sets are worse than failure for me. Am struggling to finish all sets and definitely sore the next day. I'm no longer looking forward to finishing but getting back to more normal workouts! In the video about finishing strong, I'm reminded of the last half marathon I did in November and I hadn't properly trained. I struggled across the finish line and was in so much pain. The pain for finishing the PCP is much better, I'm loving the jumproping and pushing through. Have a wedding tomorrow afternoon and although I'm not drinking and will keep strict diet, I won't be able to do my full workout on day 89. Oh well already gearing up to plan what to do over the weekend.

Another busted rope

Go figure, less than a week to go and I busted another jump rope. I guess I'll be running tomorrow morning. Pushing through the final week and long workouts, has been nice with the days off but the next few days with work will be brutal. Looking forward to finishing up and sustaining the positive changes.

Day 80

Only 10 days left!! Can hardly believe it and thankful for the long weekend and holidays/days off to do all the workouts and focus on perfect PCP days diet wise.

final indulgence

Enjoyed a date night last night and a delicious indulgence. Food wise actually didn't go too far from the PCP, had fish and a salad but the sauce and sodium levels were off the charts. My major indulgence was cocktails and wine and sharing a dessert. Super excited for the upcoming days off and enjoying short weeks, exercising and pushing through the final weeks.

HK Sevens

Well I'm not going to pretend I didn't go to the Sevens. Yesterday was a real revelation during my PCP. I knew I was going to be partying all day and just decided to go with it. What was interesting is how over it I got... after drinking for most of the day, it's like I hit equilibrium and just wanted to drink water and have some healthy food. I switched to water and actually don't feel too bad today. The second part of the revelation was the quality of junk food out there... after looking at options with a PCP mindset it shocking to realize how difficult it is to eat even semi-healthy at sporting events and bars. Needless to say, I'm actually more disappointed in myself in what I ate as opposed to what I drank during the day. My veggie breakfast tasted to good today and I'm heading to the grocery store now to stock up on fruit and veg.

Although I have been far from perfect during these 90 days, the realization that I'm not really missing out on anything (food/drink wise) and can have fun and go out while still being healthy is just as important of a lesson for me as all the diet and workout sessions. Plus it's given me a bounce to be very diligent and focused for the next 20 days. This was a bump in the road and I have no more excuses! Keep it up team, everyone looks great and can't wait to push it to failure this week.

Just for fun, my pic of my costume is attached, dressed up as Patsy from Ab Fab with a girl friend... Sevens is a lot of fun!

day 67

Longer workouts are taking a bit longer so getting up a bit earlier and am exhausted by end of the day. Some of the longer sets are brutal but I'm feeling more sore than I have been in the weeks prior. Sevens weekend coming up in HK so lots of temptation around...

Day 61

Feeling great, can't believe we are in our final month! Clothes are all loose but feeling like I'm really in the swing of things. Most muscles are completely maxed out after the sets and I'm really pushing... still can't manage a full pull up but doing assisted pull ups. The 60 sec planks are brutal!!

day 56

Feeling great today! Did a wonderful hike with some friends and the jump roping is really great with music. I don't usually take breaks just push for the full time... I really prefer it to counting. Body wise I'm feeling great, love the muscle group focused work outs, reminds me when I was seeing a trainer 3x a week. Although we would only do each muscle group once a week as opposed to twice. I really notice the muscles have been worked the next day.

March 5, 2012 7:17 AM EST

on jump rope #2

During my Sunday afternoon workout, my jump rope busted in 2 with 5 minutes left to go. Oh well, returned it and got a new one today and ran this morning. Felt good to run for a change of pace. Back to the jump rope tomorrow!

ATM thinking

Loved the training article on ATM thinking, it really put things in perspective and took some guilt away. I had a major work event yesterday and an early morning call... I just didn't have a chance to work out and I had a couple glasses of wine last night in celebration. Although I definitely didn't feel 100% today, the jumproping was easy enough and it felt great to get it done! Back on track and looking forward...

Half Way there!!

Feeling great on this major half way marker! I know this has been a challenging week but I go back to the comment on one of the training readings on breaking down the stubborn fat... that fact is getting me through! I know we still have a significant chunk in front of us but there I have a lot of accomplishments to be proud of, one I am very proud of is I haven't had a diet coke (from at least one a day that is a major step) in 45 days... in addition to others of course.

Also, loving just turning on the tunes and jumping rope. Previously I couldn't have music on while jumping as I'd lose count but now I just jump until my time is complete, it's a very welcomed change of pace.

Roll on Day 42

Well it was an off week. I was going strong Sun, Mon, Tues and then got knocked out by a nasty cold the last half of the week. Wasn't sick enough not to work but had no appetite and was sickly. Missed 3 workouts but kept to the diet, actually ended up eating less because I was just coming home and going to bed. Still, woke up on this dreary Saturday morning and felt 100% better. Got out the jumprope and did my workout today. Will start fresh next week and feel energized and recharged. We're nearly half way there and I'm feeling awesome. The results body wise are really starting to show and it feels awesome.

Day 36

Hello all!! Have had a hard time finding time to get on the site this week but have maintained workouts and diet. It's so refreshing to wake up on the weekends refreshed and recharged. I really look forward to Saturdays simply jumproping and Sundays new workout and diets. It's a good routine to be in. With the diet restraints stepping up this week, I find that I need to be more disciplined in turning down nights out for dinner, what's funny is that I don't find myself too hungry at night or longing for more after I've had my night dinner and evening snack.

Hope everyone has had a restful and resilient weekend getting ready for the upcoming week.

Validation

After watching the new message about the next month or so, I completely related to some of the points. I was in a FOUL mood on Tuesday and actually forgot it was Valentine's Day, then I felt guilty for not doing anything for my husband (that's another story)... anyway has been a long week. Well today went to try on a pair of pants that I couldn't wear a month ago because they were too tight and they fit perfectly. It's funny how the mind works, I had a rough week and then all of the sudden that pair of pants made the day a little better. Ready for the weekend!

day 29

Back in the swing of things this weekend after traveling. Am pretty glad I won't be dealing with any more long haul flights, jet lag and dietary hurdles again during my PCP. Will be good to get back on schedule with work and training. Feel like I've seen initial results but ready to really push myself during the next 30 days. Have lost around 3 kgs but still feel there are areas for improvement and plenty work ahead. Am nowhere close to a full pull-up and still sticking with incline. I've never been able to do a pull-up and flexed arm hang was my go to in fitness testing ha! Will try one of the suggestions in the Q&A when I start in a full pull-up position and lower, let's see how that goes.

Indulgence

Perfect timing on the indulgence... I enjoyed a lovely glass of red wine with my dad and sister this evening. Only one glass but a very liberal pour :) tasted wonderful and I found myself savoring the single glass as opposed to a month or so ago when I would keep drinking glass after glass. Perfect timing!! Back to Asia tomorrow, up early to do the days workout. Jet lag is a killer but at least I'll be up early all weekend to work out before crashing.

February 4, 2012 10:58 AM EST

Snow!

Well I made it home but the largest snow storm of the year has now snowed us in. Managed to do my full workout in my parents basement and can feel the muscles from some of the new exercises. Plane ride wasn't too bad, stuck with the veggie option and really didn't eat too much. Food prep at my parents is easy and I went to Whole Foods yesterday TWICE! If only we had something of that caliber and quality in HK, what an amazing store... Sighhhhh. Ok will be doing my jumproping today and back to the full workout and new diet this week. Enjoy your weekend!!

February 1, 2012 8:57 AM EST

Off to the states

I'm heading back to the US for a week tomorrow. Am packing like crazy at the moment after 3 busy days at work. Have been up early to get the workouts done so far this week and will try to stay on the Asia schedule while in the US so I don't lose a day. At least I'll be at my parents with their well stocked fridge and my moms healthy cooking to stick to the diet, I have my food scale packed! This is my only trip during the PCP and shouldn't have any trouble getting work outs done. I'm just super stoked to see the Super Bowl while stateside.

Day 14

Looking forward to the weekend and prepping veggies and fruit for next week. Just jump roping today was a nice break and good to get it done this morning so I can get the weekend started! Had a night out with some girl friends last night and I feel like a PCP ambassador... it's fun when people have heard of it, have friends who have completed it, or want to join! For the others, there is a little bit of satisfaction in not drinking (while everyone else is sipping wine) or looking at things on a menu with a "PCP" mindset as opposed to not caring. It's really amazing what a little conscientiousness and scrutiny can do to change my point of view. Looking forward to week 3 of exercises, new challenges and updated diets and thank goodness I can still have my morning coffee!!

work out buddy

New and longer work outs are going well. With the long weekend over Chinese New Year, I'm taking my time and working out during the afternoons. My husband is traveling so I'm also in charge of all the dog walks for our dog, Bruce. I lay my yoga mat over his favorite rug and he just watches me do all the exercises. Thought I'd share... he cracks me up!

Day 8

great day today, loved the new work outs and challenges. I'm surprised by the amount of food, was expecting less.

January 20, 2012 9:24 PM EST

Day 7

it's been a LONG week!! i'm so grateful the workouts were short and sweet and relatively easy for me. I was working very long hours with little sleep, the food side was a challenge as I'm more of an all or nothing person so going everything by half was more theoretical for me. All in all, feeling good and inspired, loving the work outs jumping rope! Ready for the next stage!

January 15, 2012 4:28 PM EST

Day 2

up early to get exercise done before heading into work early. feeling good and only thing sore was from the push ups.

January 14, 2012 10:37 PM EST

Day 1

Alright game on!! Excited to get started
