Done & dusted

What a great experience.  it was tough....but not too tough.  as previous PCPers have said...its more mental than physical.  have learnt a lot about food, my body, exercise....and moderation!
Will be taking some well earned R&R over christmas...then back into the routine.  Anyone up for chisel??!!

Day 87

Broke through the psychologically important 100kgs this week - currently a svelte 99.5kgs.  Am very happy with this.  Secretly it was my goal from the start.  The difference it makes when exercising is amazing (although not surprising!)  Next time you are in the gym, pick up a 15kg weight....jesus its heavy.  i did it today & was amazed.
Will be glad when PCP is over - will be happy to give the pressure of doing the exercises a break for a bit.....but only for a bit.  Am determined to keep it up (on a less aggressive basis going forward).

Day 80

Replaced my workout with a 20km hike this morning.  Weather in HK to good this morning to stay indoors.  10 days to go...

Day 78

Just back from a business trip to Sydney.  Fell of the wagon 1 night - hard not to when you are dining by the beach.  Felt guilty when i got back to HK.  Felt a lot better when i then read i had an Indulgence! I must be a psychic....
Seeing the finish line...and cannot wait to get there.  its not the exercises, nor even the diet....its the guilt when you skip something or sneak something non compliant.
i know its not about weight loss, but i am down 13kgs to 101kg...would like to see sub 100kg before day 90.  its my personal goal.

Day 72

Gym Spy observations.
+ people tend to do no more that 10-12 reps....usually on a max weight it seems
+ at least 60 secs between sets
+ rarely do you see someone doing a weights session sweat
+ most of the actions seems to be around biceps & chest
+ few people seem to focus on the legs & abs

I have done most of my PCP workouts at the gym so have been observing the above for some time.  i seem to operating at a much faster pace with my workouts due to the strict time intervals....hence when i am finished i look & feel exhausted....whereas most seem to operating well within themselves.

Day 69

Apologies for the radio silence.  havent fallen off the wagon..although i must admit i am counting down the days.  The end is in sight though.  Exercises continue to go well.  really enjoying heading to the gym every day.  Am seeing the results as well which makes it all the more worthwhile (although not so clear from my weekly photo!).  Diet is fine although i am over egg whites.  Guess i am not alone in that feeling.  3 weeks to go!

Day 62

Have started the week well.  2 decent gym sessions & fully compliant on the diet.  miss the carbs....

November 13, 2011 7:09 AM COT

Day 60

Another weekend down.  i definitely find it harder to stick to the diet when at home.  too many temptations.  Did another 3 hour hike yesterday am - going to step it up further next weekend.  am enjoying pushing myself on them...

Upper body weights going well.....legs too.  Abs only ok.  need to work harder on that area.  its strange to me that i am thinking about life after PCP already but not in the way you would think.  i am thinking about how i will incorporate many of the various things i have learned into my daily/weekly routine.  As far as i am concerned, PCP will never really finish.   For sure, it wont be as extreme - but i am not reverting to my old ways.

Day 55

Have had a few waves of tiredness over the past days, and am falling into bed in the evenings.  Did a 3 hour hike at the weekend and felt a bit weak when i reached the top of the mountain - will be taking an extra 50gs of carbs before i do that again.
Feeling a lot stronger & enjoying the exercises.  could take or leave the skipping but understand its benefits.  ran home the other night with Denis K......swapped 15 minutes of skipping for 75 minutes run....go figure!
Have dropped 10kgs....my suits/shirts not fitting that well anymore - starting to look like i shopped at the Salvation Army.

November 3, 2011 9:56 AM COT

Day 50

PCP and business travel are not compatible....for me at least.  routine goes out the window....and the diet gets difficult to adhere to.  Was well behaved in Beijing but am glad to be back in HK.

October 31, 2011 9:07 AM COT

Day 47

Have surprised myself with how well i am handling the diet.  Havent got bored of the egg whites yet.  The lack of carbs are not as much of an issue as i thought they would have been.  Starting to get comments about weight loss from people over the past few days.  must be my haircut.  it does make the whole thing worthwhile though - i must admit

Day 42

Last of the personal trips behind me now.  So no more excuses to veer off PCP for the next 48 days!  Had a good week of exercises last week as had plenty of time.  Felt much stronger today as a result.

Day 42

What would you like to tell the world?

October 21, 2011 10:54 PM COT

Headaches when Skipping

Is anyone getting headaches when skipping?  its only started in last 2 days.  i am keeping going but they are a killer & take a few hours to go away.

(Forgot the camera connection for my PC so wont able to upload a picture until day 42)

October 18, 2011 10:30 PM COT

Day 35

Workouts going well whilst on vacation as have plenty of free time on my hands.  in fact am doing a bit more of the exercises - esp Abs (as i need it).  am also making up for the previous weekend exertions in NZ.  The menu is going well for breakfast & lunch.....too hard to stick to egg whites for dinner when on holidays with friends.  Still...i am making better choices than i would have done before PCP.
hitting the number for the skipping...but its not pretty.  its my wrists/arms that fail me post 150 skips...not my legs.  Any tips to counter this?

October 14, 2011 6:23 AM COT

Day 30

didnt have a great week of exercises this week.  was travelling & the change of routine was difficult to adjust to.  also got some mild food poisoning on my travels.  good for weight loss, bad for skipping!

Have dropped 6-7kgs since the start which i am very happy with.  Am on vacation next week so see that as an opportunity to get some serious exercise as feel i have fallen behind somewhat.

October 10, 2011 10:00 AM COT

Day 26

Back from a weekend in NZ @ the rugby.  Ate reasonably well but drank more than PCP would suggest.  No big deal though - i knew this weekend was coming.  Happy to be back in the groove again with the diet & exercise.

October 6, 2011 8:56 AM COT

Hello NZ, Goodbye PCP (temporarily)!

Have regressed this week with my skipping.  No idea why, but tripping more often.  Need to keep persevering.
22 days without booze is coming to an end - am heading to NZ tomorrow for a rugby world cup weekend - will be as PCP compliant as possible....but lets face it....will be nigh on impossible.  Will watch what I eat, but will likely do more damage on the beer.
Am enjoying the program so far...starting to see some results from the weight dropping.  This is keeping me motivated.

October 1, 2011 6:48 PM COT

Day 18

Survived another night out last night.  passed on the starter & had a steak and a third of the potatoes (which is sacreligous for an irish man).  Not drinking wasnt an issue at all.  Whats happening to me???
Weight starting to drop & getting into the groove with the exercises - although if i dont do them first thing in the morning, its on my mind until i get them done.
Sleeping a lot better as well.
So far so good.

September 28, 2011 6:16 AM COT

2 weeks down

All in all a good week.  getting the exercises done first thing in the morning is key - dont have to think about them for the rest of the day.  skipping coming along ......slowly.  Diet was fine this week - the calm before the storm, i guess.  not missing the booze as much as i would have thought - cannot remember the last time i had 2 weeks with no alcohol.  although have a weekend in wellington planned in 10 days to watch some rugby.  i wont be bringing PCP with me for that weekend!

September 23, 2011 8:26 AM COT

Too much food....

I know the quantities will drop over the course of the program, so i should make the most of this weeks food.   But its a lot & i am struggling to put it all away...especially the breakfast.  Exercises going ok - general soreness remains...which means i must be doing something right.

September 21, 2011 7:21 AM COT

The Diet begins...

just seen my week 2 diet.  haven't eaten that much fruit in a week....not to mind a day!  any recipes for making veg & carbs a bit more interesting are welcome.....

September 18, 2011 8:23 AM COT

Day 4

Went to a friends BBQ yesterday.  was reasonably well behaved on portions, although went very light at lunchtime to give myself some room.  stayed off the booze despite witnessing Ireland's best ever rugby World Cup result.  exercise going ok although kids think i am hilarious when skipping.  may need to get the foundations of the apartment fortified - graceful is not a word that would spring to mind if you saw me.

Day 1 has finally arrived

Its been a month since I decided to try PCP and i have been counting down the days.  Cannot wait to get started.  Feel nervous about what i am going to put my body through.  I just hope i have the willpower for the 90 days.
